Casa Pau is a holiday apartment situated 10 minutes walk from the village of La Galera, Catalunya, Spain. Available to rent at a weekly or daily rate the two storey apartment is a self-contained fully equipped 3 bedroom apartment attached to the main house which is occupied by the English owners, who speak Castillian, Catalan and a little French, and their dogs. La Galera is situated about 15 minutes from Tortosa and Amposta on the Galera plain. The area is rich in the cultivation of olives, almonds, peaches, mandarins and oranges and is a delightful area for walking or cycling. The village has a good selection of shops and services, including 2 bars and 2 restaurants (neither currently open in the evenings), as well as a Roman bridge and 14th century castle/church. There is a municipal pool which opens in July and August and the beaches at Sant Carles de la Ràpita and Ampolla are within easy reach around half an hour’s drive away.

La Galera enjoys views of the Tortosa/Beceite range of mountains within the Els Ports natural park as well as the Senia mountain range and the Montsia hills. The Els Ports mountains are a natural reserve with the highest point at Mont Caro where there is plenty of scope for birdwatching and spotting the wild Iberian mountain goats.

A half hour drive to the coast brings you to the Ebro Delta wildlife reserve with a wide variety of birds and waterfowl including flamingoes. The area is also renowned for its extensive paddy fields, high quality sea salt, mussel beds, sand dunes and expansive beaches.

The River Ebro that flows through Tortosa and Amposta is renowned for fishing, mostly of giant catfish but also carp and other varieties of fish.
